about this project

This Arcadia ranch was already well-loved when the clients came to Fitch Hill Design. The bones were good, the proportions were right, and the home had real character. What it needed was a refresh that honored all of that while elevating every finish to match the way the family wanted to live in it.

The kitchen was reimagined with a large island, creamy white cabinetry, Calacatta marble counters and backsplash, unlacquered brass fixtures, and a range hood tiled in the same Calacatta as the backsplash. The adjacent butler's pantry was converted from a laundry room into a proper working pantry with a harlequin marble floor, wallpaper, and its own dedicated sink and wine refrigerator. A hidden arched doorway connects the two spaces and became one of the most talked-about details in the home.

The primary bath was designed to feel like a hotel suite that had always been there. A freestanding tub sits beneath a draped fabric chandelier, unlacquered brass fixtures age beautifully over time, and tongue and groove walls and herringbone floors give the room warmth without trying too hard. The toilet closet is finished with grasscloth-backed floral wallpaper, a quiet detail that makes the space feel completely considered. The powder room features an arched brass mirror that feels personal and deliberate.

The goal throughout was the same: make it feel like this was always how the house was built.
